What’s the difference between a blog and a message board?
There are many points of difference between a blog and a message board. They are the following:
- While the loci of control in the blog sites are centralized and personal, in a message board, it is decentralized and can be accessed by a group of people.
- While authoring new topics, the blog site is generally operated by a single person or a small group. In a message board, a group of people shares a similar idea and they can post whatever they like into the site.
- A blog site is basically intended for putting up personal views, news, and reflections. In a message board, group output, collaboration and decision making are usually done.
- In a blog site, the comments are not essential, but replies are essential in a message board for the discussion to continue.
- The tools used in blog site include RSS, aggregation, cross linking and track back. The tools used in a message board are integrated equipments.
- There is a revere chronological order of topics in the blog sites. In a message board, there is a wide variety of topic for discussion.
- The blog is usually un-spam able or un-flammable by others while the message board must be maintained.
